The court ruled against plaintiffs who claimed that the government unlawfully coerced social media companies to remove controversial content from their platforms.
The Supreme Court handed the Biden administration a win on Wednesday, throwing out a Republican-led claim that the federal government unlawfully coerced social media companies to remove controversial content from their platforms.
In a 6-3 decision, the justices said the challengers did not have legal standing to bring the case. As a result, the lower court’s injunction – which sought to limit the contact between the federal government and social media companies – was overturned. The Supreme Court had already paused the injunction.
